Individuals getting married in Connecticut must obtain their marriage license no more than 65 days before the wedding from the Town Clerk's office in the town in which the marriage is to take place. The couple must apply in person for the license, but they do not have to appear together. Photo ID is required.

Application for Certified Copies of a Marriage License
The fee for certified copies of marriage licenses is $20.00 per copy. If bride, groom or spouse need certified copies with social security numbers, please include a copy of your photo ID. To download an application for a certified copy of a marriage license please click here. 

Expedited processing service is also available for an additional fee for requests ordered on-line via VitalChek.  VitalChek, a third party vendor approved by the CT DPH, allows customers to order certificates from Farmington through either a toll free telephone number or on-line.

1-866-809-0839.  An additional fee is charged by VitalChek for using this service, and all major credit cards are accepted, including American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard® or Visa®.  Only requests ordered via Vitalchek allow customers to pay for certificates with a credit card and to track the status of ordered certificates that are sent by UPS overnight mail.
